Sometimes it can be an ordeal trying to change Mr G. He’s all over the place that I just give up and let him go for a couple of minutes before capturing him again. Or at least I try to recapture him.

Slowly but surely making progress.

Open Letter to Midwest Drivers

Dear fellow drivers,

If you were driving in the recent snow storm and you were driving behind me, I sincerely apologize. I was that person driving 20 mph in a 45mph zone with my hazards on. That was only to prevent my car fishtailing into a ditch 0ut in the middle of nowhere.

Here in northern Illinois we haven’t had much snow. We’ve had some really warm weather actually. Just yesterday it was 56 degrees! Today we had our much anticipated winter storm. You know the one that closes down schools, airports, whole cities, etc. Everyone talked about it for weeks in casual conversations. “We’ve had such nice weather, but wait until we get that snow we are waiting for!”

My normally 15-20 minute drive to work took almost 40 minutes tonight. I slipped, fishtailed, and cursed all over the road. My neck muscles are feeling very tight right now (another excuse for a massage *wink*) from clenching them the whole way home. Why must I drive with my neck muscles ?

Funny story: My car door wouldn’t open when I arrived home. I thought for sure it was frozen so I tried using my shoulder strength to open it (my poor neck muscles!) but it still didn’t open. I tried using my foot to kick out the door but that didn’t work either. I climbed out the passenger side door after having just the slightest bit of a panic attack. It turns out there was a piece of ice wedged between the door and the handle preventing me from using the inside lever… Of course! I knew that all along. Silly door. I really hope the roads will be clear and safe enough to run all the errands I need for Mr. G’s 1st birthday this weekend. It shall be fun!

Christmas past (of the 2011 kind)

The holidays flew by so fast once again. Mr G isn’t old enough to understand the excitement of Santa, presents or Jesus’ birthday yet so I didn’t get really into traditions. Heck, I forgot about the Christmas pickle until just right now. There is always next year to kick my butt into gear and start producing Christmas cheer.

Yesterday I took my grandmother and Mr. G shopping. We spent all day running around that we went into bottle time. She volunteered to help me so u could get done faster. He’s too heavy to carry around and she felt bad feeding him while he sat in the cart. So what does my grandma do?

Why stick him in the cart and push him around of course! I’m not going to win mom if the year awards anytime soon.

Someone wise once told me that we have to learn to live in the now. Time goes by so fast that I was beginning to forget to stop and enjoy myself.

Mr G and I did some last minute shopping at Whole Foods.

He started standing up on his own now. He’s not too stable right now. It freaks me out thinking he’s going to fall back and crack his head open on the crib.

My darling husband thought it would be awesome to make candy sushi. I think it consisted of fruit roll ups, rice krispies and Swedish fish. I never did try one and I had no desire to…

A latest addition to my family’s clan. My mother sister had her baby. He’s a cutie pie!

I truly despise the WordPress app for Android. Can other’s format their photo’s and content on the WordPress app? I can’t figure it out.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving

Yesterday I had in mind to take a ton of pictures of Mr. G’s first Thanksgiving. That was before I knew he wasn’t going to take his afternoon nap. Boyfriend is NOT a happy camper when he’s overtired. We tried putting him down in his play pack with his sound machine on, but everything going on outside was so much more interesting.

I don’t think I’ll ever forget Mr. G screeching at the top of his lungs while saying grace. I did get some pictures, but none of the turkey, him sitting at the dinner table, or all those cutesy pictures.

He was just so tired that he clung to my arm as he finished his sweet potato.

Friday Update

So it’s Friday; it has been five days since I posted up my goals.

Here is where I stand:

I AM NOT ONE BIT CLOSE TO ANY OF MY GOALS.

Of course, I’m very disappointed in myself. To be honest I’ve been really hard on myself about slacking off overall in a lot of aspects in life.

Then I have to remember that I need to stop beating myself up.

I need to regroup, regain my focus and start living again.

I need to remind myself what I have worth living for.

There are bigger and better things going on in my life than what is going on in others.

My life isn’t perfect.

There are tons of bumps, dips and spills, but it is mine.

I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Goals

Everyone has goals. Whether big or small I have to set some goals for myself this week. I like the challenge since it really motivates me to do it.

This week I will:

Personal Goals

Work out 4x’s this week (zumba, dancing, but not including situps or pushups)
Log everything I eat (I’m following a new Gluten & Dairy free diet and it’s driving me bonkers)
Write 3 blog posts

Around the house goals

Clean one room a day
Finish a load of laundry from start to finish
Pre make all next weeks meals

Family goals

Spend one hour uninterrupted with both my boys when I’m home from work
Set half an hour to talk to my husband everyday (I’m amazed we don’t really do this anymore with both of our workloads)
Have a family dinners with both our parents

Other Goals

Meet set deadlines for projects!!!! (November going into December is turning out to be super busy)

Let us see how this goes.
