Christmas past (of the 2011 kind)

The holidays flew by so fast once again. Mr G isn’t old enough to understand the excitement of Santa, presents or Jesus’ birthday yet so I didn’t get really into traditions. Heck, I forgot about the Christmas pickle until just right now. There is always next year to kick my butt into gear and start producing Christmas cheer.

Here is a peek at what happened during our Christmas festivities:

Shopping

Yesterday I took my grandmother and Mr. G shopping. We spent all day running around that we went into bottle time. She volunteered to help me so u could get done faster. He’s too heavy to carry around and she felt bad feeding him while he sat in the cart. So what does my grandma do?

Why stick him in the cart and push him around of course! I’m not going to win mom if the year awards anytime soon.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving

046

Yesterday I had in mind to take a ton of pictures of Mr. G’s first Thanksgiving. That was before I knew he wasn’t going to take his afternoon nap. Boyfriend is NOT a happy camper when he’s overtired. We tried putting him down in his play pack with his sound machine on, but everything going on outside was so much more interesting.

I don’t think I’ll ever forget Mr. G screeching at the top of his lungs while saying grace. I did get some pictures, but none of the turkey, him sitting at the dinner table, or all those cutesy pictures.

Mr G loves his cousins

And his great uncle. And his bib.

He was just so tired that he clung to my arm as he finished his sweet potato.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I know I did.

Meanie Mommies

This morning Stephanie from This Casita wrote an interesting post about judgmental mother’s.

I have to agree with her whole heartily.

It seems like every time I talk to another mother they ask the same questions:

Did you have a C Section and are you breastfeeding?

Yes, I did have a C Section. No, I am not breastfeeding..

I then feel like I have to go into full detail to defend my reasons for doing so, but their eyes start to glaze over. Usually they will interrupt me to start talking about how their sister’s best friend’s cousin had the most amazing water birth experience and just how easy it was for them to breastfeed.

New mothers are under an incredible amount of stress anyway, why add more to their load?

I tried to breastfeed, it didn’t work out. There was lots of crying and turmoil on my end because I set my heart to do it.

I remember one day when Gabriel was almost a month old, we went on a family trip to BabiesRUs to find a better bottle. He was hungry so I went to the nursing room to feed him. There was already another woman there changing her baby. I asked her if it was alright if I feed the baby and she said of course. She seemed nice.

I did my thing: poured in the formula, shook it up, pressed out the air (Playtex Drop-in’s are the worst by the way) and started to give him his bottle. There I was minding my own business, when the lady lets out a huge sound of disgust. She sat down across from me (all while starting me down), whips out her boob and starts feeding her baby (still staring me down). As she was leaving she got a call (from her husband I’m guessing) and says something like, “I’m just finishing up. I wanted to breastfeed my son because I could.”

I waited till she left the nursing room to call my husband bawling.

From that day on I learned how snarky and mean other woman can be.

Can’t we just all get along?

Today we went swimming at a relatives pool. G had a ton of fun. He swam like a little fish today.
We also found a nest of baby bunnies. We think they might be a couple of days old.
