Health and Stuff

It’s been pretty quite here on Lupakitty.com, but Casa de Bridges has been a big hustle and bustle.

So far this year,
•I had Mr. G
•Mr G is growing so fast (he’s almost a year)!
• I went through a really rough couple of months healthwise.
•We had a very scary ambulance ride to the ER for Mr G.
•We’ve been laying low and taking as many breaks as to not burn out (ie, changing jobs, not worrying if something isn’t clean, enjoying our little one).
•We’ve been battling what seems like the plague over here.

I will get it in me to type it all out. I’m just trying to enjoy life before I share my life.

Please pray for her

Thursday morning David’s aunt Barbara suffered a mild stroke that affected her speech and movement. We just received word that she’s getting worse. Doctors found a blockage in her artery which they are treating.

If everyone would be so kind as to send them your thoughts and prayers, it would mean so much to me.

Meanie Mommies

This morning Stephanie from This Casita wrote an interesting post about judgmental mother’s.

I have to agree with her whole heartily.

It seems like every time I talk to another mother they ask the same questions:

Did you have a C Section and are you breastfeeding?

Yes, I did have a C Section. No, I am not breastfeeding..

I then feel like I have to go into full detail to defend my reasons for doing so, but their eyes start to glaze over. Usually they will interrupt me to start talking about how their sister’s best friend’s cousin had the most amazing water birth experience and just how easy it was for them to breastfeed.

New mothers are under an incredible amount of stress anyway, why add more to their load?

I tried to breastfeed, it didn’t work out. There was lots of crying and turmoil on my end because I set my heart to do it.

I remember one day when Gabriel was almost a month old, we went on a family trip to BabiesRUs to find a better bottle. He was hungry so I went to the nursing room to feed him. There was already another woman there changing her baby. I asked her if it was alright if I feed the baby and she said of course. She seemed nice.

I did my thing: poured in the formula, shook it up, pressed out the air (Playtex Drop-in’s are the worst by the way) and started to give him his bottle. There I was minding my own business, when the lady lets out a huge sound of disgust. She sat down across from me (all while starting me down), whips out her boob and starts feeding her baby (still staring me down). As she was leaving she got a call (from her husband I’m guessing) and says something like, “I’m just finishing up. I wanted to breastfeed my son because I could.”

I waited till she left the nursing room to call my husband bawling.

From that day on I learned how snarky and mean other woman can be.

Can’t we just all get along?

Trains, Skies, & Automobiles

The skies are finally clear of rain and thunder (for now). The sky above kinda had a toilet bowel look to it… Gross right? That was the first thing that came into mind when I saw the picture later.

Was I the only person to own a Andriod who didn’t know the pictures upload automatically from the phone and onto Picasa? That means I don’t have to attempt to use the poorly designed WordPress App from my phone. Most of my pictures are taken on my phone mostly because I don’t download the pictures off the camera until a month or two later. That is a huge breakthrough for me.

Next week I start a new job that’s closer by to home but I can never leave where I am now. I am officially a working mother, working two jobs. When am I going to get anything done?

I heard the cicadas loud and clear yesterday. I also heard the back to school sales on the radio this morning. Summer is almost over… I’m still as pale as I was this winter. Now what’s wrong with that picture?

What are you planning to do before summer ends?

Today we went swimming at a relatives pool. G had a ton of fun. He swam like a little fish today.
We also found a nest of baby bunnies. We think they might be a couple of days old.
